Hot weather leads to rescheduling of Osian’s film fest

The Osian's Cinefan film festival will now be held in October every year and not in July because of unbearable heat and humidity in the capital during the month.
"It has been a decision pending for nearly four years.
The film world has significantly changed during the last decade and the choice of July (in India) for a world class film festival is no longer perceived as the best option," the organisers said in a statement.
The festival core committee has finally chosen October as the permanent date for the festival, they said adding that the Delhi Government is in agreement with the decision.
This year's edition of the festival, which showcases contemporary Indian, Asian and Arab cinema was scheduled to begin in the capital from July 17.
"The festival has been rescheduled keeping in mind the unbearable temperatures and humidity that the capital experiences in July, though cinema lovers have braved these conditions and supported the festival for almost a decade. The exuberance of the month of October will hopefully further enhance the overall festival experience," Osian's said.
